Brad Mason | President and Chief Executive Officer
Brad Mason became President and Chief Executive Officer of Orthofix in March 2013. He previously served the Company from 2003 to 2010 in positions of increasing responsibility, including the role of Group President of North America. Brad first joined Orthofix upon the acquisition of Breg, Inc., a company he founded in 1989. Earlier in his career, he became the first head of Manufacturing Operations and Product Design at DJ Orthopedics (today known as DJO Global) where his efforts resulted in hundreds of new and innovative products during his tenure. Brad is also the named inventor on 38 patents in the orthopedic product arena.
DOUG RICE | Chief Financial Officer
Doug Rice became Chief Financial Officer of Orthofix in April 2015. He joined the Company as its Chief Accounting Officer in September 2014 and quickly became the Interim CFO. Prior to joining Orthofix, Doug most recently served as the Chief Financial Officer of Vision Source, a national optometric network provider, since 2012. He joined Vision Source from McAfee, a global antivirus software and computer security company, where he was Vice President Finance and Treasurer from 2007 until 2012, when McAfee was acquired by Intel Corporation. From 2000 to 2007, Doug was Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller of Concentra, Inc., a national healthcare service provider. He also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in various roles including Audit Manager. Doug is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA and BBA, with honors, from Southern Methodist University.
Mike Finegan joined Orthofix as Vice President of Corporate Development in 2006. In 2009, he assumed additional responsibilities as the President of Biologics and in June 2013 he was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer for the Company. Prior to joining Orthofix, Mike served in several management positions, including Vice President of Corporate Sales at Boston Scientific Corporation. He began his career in banking with First Union (today known as Wachovia). Mike graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Economics.
Kim Elting joined the Orthofix Leadership team as Chief Legal Officer in September 2016. Kim now oversees the Legal, Regulatory, Quality, and Corporate Communications teams for the Company. A seasoned executive, she has a strong background in the medical device industry. Before coming to Orthofix, Kim served as General Counsel and Vice President Corporate Affairs at TriVascular Technologies, Inc. In this role, she led the legal, compliance, human resources (HR) and government affairs functions for the company. Prior to this, Kim served in various roles of increasing responsibility with St. Jude Medical including General Counsel and Vice President of HR and Health Policy for the Neuromodulation Division. Kim also was a partner at the Jones Day law firm where she counseled clients in the health care sector on mergers and acquisitions and regulatory matters. A graduate of Ithaca College, Kim earned her Law Degree from the University of Denver and an LL.M. in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago.
jill mason | Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer
Jill Mason became Chief Compliance Officer at Orthofix in February 2015. She has an extensive background in healthcare compliance issues that impact the medical device industry. Prior to joining the Company, Jill served as the Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Director of Global Compliance Operations for St. Jude Medical where she led efforts to ensure global adherence with applicable laws, regulations and company policies while increasing the culture of compliance throughout the organization. Jill has also run her own consulting company where she provided compliance services for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. An attorney, Jill spent the first seven years of her career in private practice, specializing in regulatory and corporate matters. She is a graduate of Baylor University School of Law.
Jim Ryaby, PhD | Chief Scientific Officer
Jim Ryaby, PhD joined Orthofix as Chief Scientific Officer in July 2013 after serving as a consultant to Orthofix. Before joining the Company, Jim served as Vice President of Research and Clinical Affairs for musculoskeletal applications at Mesoblast. He has also held the position of Senior Vice President of Research and Clinical Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer at OrthoLogic Corp in Tempe, AZ where he led the development of the CMF technology for spine fusion and nonunions and the TP508 peptide therapeutic development program in orthopedic and diabetic ulcer applications. Additionally, he has served as Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at Arizona State University. Jim received his Ph.D. degree in cellular and molecular biology from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York.
Tim McGuire joined Orthofix in August 2013. He has more than 26 years of experience in information technology in a variety of leadership roles across corporate information technology, management consulting, and high tech startups. Throughout his career, Tim has been called on to lead the most complex and challenging business initiatives including numerous enterprise transformation projects as well as business and it turnarounds. Prior to joining Orthofix, he was Vice President, IT at Quest Diagnostics where he was responsible for IT strategy and operations for the $1.2B cancer diagnostics business (Ameripath). Prior to that, he held a variety of leadership positions at SunGard, Pariveda Solutions, Hitachi Consulting, and Accenture. Tim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration, both from the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
BRAD NIEMANN | President, BioStim
Brad Niemann was appointed President of the BioStim strategic business unit in June 2013. He joined Orthofix in March 2012 as Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Orthofix's Global Spine Business. Brad has more than 15 years of experience in the medical devices industry, with a particularly strong track record in expanding the utilization of bone growth stimulation technology. From 2004-2012, Brad worked in a variety of management roles at DJO Global, Inc. before joining Orthofix. Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from DePaul University.
BOB GOODWIN | President, Biologics
Bob Goodwin assumed the role of President of the Biologics strategic business unit in July 2013. Bob joined Orthofix in 2006 as Director of Business Development before being promoted to Vice President of Finance in 2008, Vice President of Business Development in 2009, and the role of Vice President of Marketing for Biologics in 2012. He has more than 18 years of medical device experience, including escalating levels of responsibility in functional areas of finance, sales, new product development, I/T, business development and marketing. Prior to joining Orthofix, Bob was with U.S. Endoscopy, Aspect Medical Systems, and CR Bard. Bob holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Maine.
DAVIDE BIANCHI | President, Extremity Fixation
Davide Bianchi joined Orthofix as President of the International Extremity Fixation group in July 2013 and was promoted to Global President of the newly formed Extremity Fixation strategic business unit in January 2014. With more than 20 years' experience in the medical device industry, Davide's career has included the role of President of the Heart Valves Global Business Unit for the Sorin Group SpA, Italy, and Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Marketing EMEA for Edwards Lifesciences, LLC. He holds a Master of Business Management from ISTUD Milano.
RAY FUJIKAWA | President, Spine Fixation
Ray Fujikawa came to the Orthofix team in August 2013 as Sr. Vice President of Commercial Strategy. With more than 33 years' experience in medical device sales, Ray was directly responsible for establishing sales forces at Mitek, Surgiquip and Li Medical Technologies while serving as their Vice President of Sales. Additionally, he was Vice President of Sales at Breg, Inc. where he was one of the creators of their business solution program. Ray is the author of the sales training program "Student of the Game" which is used by companies to enhance their sales results. He frequently lectures on this program at major university business schools. Ray began his career as a medical device salesman, which led him to increasing responsibilities in successive management roles.
